Welcome to Salt+Grit

Salt+Grit is a human-centered consulting firm
helping organizations navigate strategic paths forward.

Our Services

  • Salt+Grit helps teams move away from conventional approaches, i.e. the habit of jumping to conclusions and solutions. Instead, we guide teams through experiential and exploratory human-centered design sessions to help identify the right problems to solve. As these are identified, we will provide tools to effectively and efficiently solve for these problems through a human-centered approach. Salt+Grit brings the rigor to elevate organizational potential and uncover innovative processes and ideas that drive exponential growth.

Salt+Grit will utilize the proven six-step process—empathize, define, ideate, prototype, test, and implement—keeping humans are at the center of everything we do. We are steadfast in our practice of leading with empathy, curiosity, and understanding. We engage through active listening, conducting qualitative research and interviews, asking a lot of questions, analyzing and synthesizing results, revisiting and expanding upon insights, and challenging assumptions.

  • Salt+Grit creates a welcoming and energetic environment for active strategy and workshop sessions, resulting in positive and engaging user experiences. We curate a unique blend of facilitation tools and methods for each client, all reflect of their culture, goals, and participant needs.

Leading up to events, we collaborate with our clients to identify themes and to any upstream design services needed to support holistic goals. This includes qualitative research, designing and conducting interviews, delivering analysis summaries, and developing project and product plans. Salt+Grit embraces the unknown, and we help teams thrive in the discovery process!

  • Salt+Grit Coaches are formally trained in professional and leadership coaching methods. Our training has come from world renowned institutions, such as the International Coaching Federation, Brown University, and ACT Leadership and Performance Coaching. Additionally, our top two coaches have both earned a Master of Science from The New School’s Parson’s School of Design (the leading U.S. design institution) with a concentration in Human-Centered Design.

We approach every engagement with empathy. Meeting people where they are without judgment, subjective bias, or preconceived solutions. This approach fosters depth, discovery, ideation, inquiry, and resolve. Giving permission and space for exploratory thinking while creating safe environments to share promotes exponential growth and impact. These principles are critical for personal growth and in establishing a trusted relationship between individual and coach.

Salt+Grit fosters a mindset of continuous learning. Our coaches help people develop the skills and confidence needed to navigate their lives effectively and drive personal— and organizational— change and success. We collaborate with individuals to set clear, actionable goals and design strategies to achieve them. Our coaches emphasize accountability, tracking of progress, and regular check-ins to assess and iterate plans and goals. Most importantly, we always celebrate the wins—big or small.

We are a trusted partner invested in your success.

  • "I can't think of a more qualified person [for leadership retreat consulting] than Jennifer Trezza. Through SmithGroup, I've participated in strategy sessions targeting specific goals with her. She approaches them with a human-centric design approach and the results are empowering. Her attentive listening and acute questioning led us to approaches we would not have considered."

    - Cathy Pack, SmithGroup

  • "Jennifer was kind, warm, organized, and thoughtful. She created a safe space in which people from various backgrounds and phases of life felt welcomed and supported. I was impressed by the delivery from the moment I stepped into the space. You could tell she went out of her way to ensure a great experience for all. She positioned herself as a leader while also allowing us the freedom to experience the retreat in our own way."

    - Annie O’Connell, AO Pilates
